Never Forget Sabrah and Shateelah, Never

It's Sunday, and I woke up on a phone call with a recording from the Masjid: Brother Mohamad's son whois one week old has passed away Salat aljanazah is after Salat althohor. So, I gatherd I'm gonna have a gloomy Sunday. Then While browsing Blogs, I read UmKhalil's Blog. And read an article by Musa Al-Hindi that didnt make my Sunday any better. I saw a middle-aged woman hysterically dancing over a pile of children bodies, pulling her own hair and scratching her face, and singing unintelligibly. I tried to make some sense of her words. The only phrase I could hear was "ya mshaharah ya Subhiyeh." The rest were just unintelligible sounds. A sobbing man, either her husband or brother, I assumed, was trying to make her stop, but without any success. I can still remember her dark, wrinkled and bleeding face, her gray hair and the Hennah on her chin. Next to the pile kneeled a younger woman, with her face buried in the sand. Suddenly she stood up and started to tear the top of her dress, only to be stopped by other women in the crowd. Read More..... Here are some Nakba Pics.. :-( Peace

New Job

Salam, Remember Steve from My previous post. Well, I only got 2 jobs from him and I this wasn't good, I cant survive like that. So I went on applying for jobs everywhere, places I always wanted to work for but never had the opportunity to apply there in the past, I guess I got pretty desperate :-) Then I hear of a couple of Arabic friends who has been in the car business for a long time and recently started exporting car to Saudi. They are moving a high volume of cars and looking for someone to organize the operation for them and in the mean time be their Online Car Buyer, which is something I always wanted , plus it is salary plus commission. The funny part was that they did their research for this position and came to the conclusion that Khaled (moi) was the right person for this position. So I got hired and I love the new job. Then something crazy happens, UAB which is like the largest university in our state called wanted to interview me for a PC Tech. position which is something I also always wanted lol, but I guess ALQANA3AH KANZON LA YOFNA. So I just pretended as if this call never happened and stuck to my current job. I have an interview with the MBA Dean in this other University, so far I have been looking at Faulkner (which is my current school), UAB which is huge in the medical area and they have a unique program of MBA associated with medical equipment degree. UA which is the fanciest one but also most expensive, and now Samford, not only it is mighty close to my home, but it also has a one year program and even shorter for those of business administration major such as moi. Ok, you guys are lucky I have heartburn, otherwise I would be in bed snoring. :P Peace

Discrimination email followup

Salam, Remember my Discrimination Complaint email? Well, I sent them another email once everything was fixed. Good morning, People in general usually make an effort to complain or send a message once something goes wrong, but also fail to proactively send a compliment in the case of something good happened. The minute I send that email complaining about the maltreatment received by one of your employees at ############# in Birmingham Alabama, I was bombarded with phone calls from all top managers , and #### herself called and gave me a genuine apology which made my day, then ######## kept calling to make sure I'm being taking care of. I would like to congratulate you on the superb staff, and thank you for solving my problem. __________________________________________ And here are the responses I got : 1- Thank you for recognizing the efforts made by our team at ###############, we will recognize the team for their efforts in this regard. 2- Thanks for sending this very kind note. I will share with senior management and the ####### team, _________________________________________ The funny part, is I get a visit from a friend who is also an Arab who has been living there for the past 8 years and he goes on describing the huge apartment complex I live in and then goes on saying and the reason I left because of one racist employee named ######??!!!!!!!!! LOL, Then I tell him how I dealt with the situation, and he was shocked. Well, we are looking into the matter and if we get one more Arab/Muslim who has been maltreated by the same person , we are going to FORMALY complain this time. Peace

Stickless Pool

Salam, I remember in the 80's we used to play pool in Kuwait before there were pool tables places :-) It was a small Square table with holes in each corner ,just like the pool table rules I guess but instead of balls we had chips and before we play we wipe the table with baby powder LOL. I wonder if they still have these tables available for purchase. Anyone know? Wow, Ramadan almost here , this would be my 4th Ramadan Smoke Free :-) I think Ramadan is the best time to start new resolutions. Quitting bad habits is a lot easier in Ramadan. Hmm, wonder what should I quit this year? Or what good habit I should grow? I think I need to Pray Hard! (Nike)LOL No, with all seriousness I need to pray more and more on time as well. Kids pick up on your habits (good or bad) watch what you are doing around your kids, this generation do what you do not what you say, zaman awal ta7awal. Peace

Spontaneously hired

Spontaneous Ok, so I was driving around and going to hospitals, colleges and ended up at some computer lab. I was looking for extra work. I think I applied for like 30 companies lol. Then I found someone who was looking for independent contractors which is what I was looking for exactly, but what attracted my attention was that he wanted anyone who wants the job to call him ASAP. Which I did, he asked me for my resume and W9, which I faxed for him instantly, then 15 minutes later he calls me back and asks about my computer experience and I told him I have 7 years in computer repair and upgrade experience. Then he asks about printers I told him I dealt with laser printers before, and then he asks if I know about Jukeboxes and I had to ask him: DO WHAT? He goes: do you know jukeboxes? I said yes, I do but never messed with them before, but I’m sure I can figure them out with some basic training. He said OK thank you. Then I hung up and got back into searching for other companies. Then my phone rings again, and it was him he asks me to go to another city that is like 50 miles away and work on a touch screen , Well I wanted to ask so many questions but I said let’s not spook the heard. So I got into my car and went to the assigned restaurant and called the manager on my way telling her I’m the ( touch screen tech guy) while in reality I never even touched one before lol. There is a funnier part which is, I have no clue who this guy work for and where da heck is the company I’m suppose to be “ working for”. LoL I was like, well let’s see where this gonna lead to. When I got there I met with the manger and she told me that the Touch Screen has a bad CALIBRATION, and I was like: (in my mind) what da heck is calibration? It rhymes with satisfaction, so “I got no Calibration” stuck in my mind. SO I called Steve( my new employer) and asked him : Alright man I’m on site and looking at the Touch Screen anddddddddddddddddddddddd “ I HAVE NOOOOO CALIBRATION”. LoooL Well, he calmly asked me to call a 1-800 and they would walk me through. I said OK, easy enough I called and was transferred to TOM who thinks he is the NCR Geekmiester, and was like ok take the screen off and I was like: and how do we do that TOM?! He was like: what? Is this your first day? I was like: now I know why they pay you the big bucks. LoL So, He walked me through that part, then he goes: you see where the pin on the motherboard, INSTALL THE CARD!!!1 I was like: er… What Card?! He goes: The Card. I go: Well, I hate to break it to you but I didn’t bring any equipments with me, (didn’t wanna through Steve under the bus from the first day. Then he goes: Let me call Steve. Steve calls me and tells me we got to order the part and once they get it they will call you to come back. Well, by that time on my way back, I don’t know who I work for and my job description is grey :-0 Then once I got home I traced the email and looked up the IP and found out the name of the company and Steve has sent me a manual for the NCRs , I guess I will be in charge of maintaining the NCRs (Cashier Systems) for a chain of restaurants. The pay was sweet and school is still going good. Oh, and yes I forgot to mention, I quit my present job. So much for an off day huh? :-)

Bored :-|

Well, I’m not working today, taking a time out. I want to go driving around for a change, read Kuwait Blogs and Jordanian Blogs for this morning, there are selective Bloggers who are extremely amusing in their own writings/designs/taste of art or music that I would like to thank because they make my Blog reading fruitful. Some bring a whole country to my desktop, some toggle sensitive issues and take it to dimensions not many dare to go there, some are simply born with a heavenly taste of good appetite for art, and some are simply born to be geeks :-) . Personally, I have respect to all living beings, regardless of their interests, though I highly value those who are genuine and simply being themselves. On a whole different note, has anyone seen the new INXS reality show? Man, I tell ya, this is one of the best Reality Show I have seen, in my own humble opinion it beats American Idol. You can check out all the music and videos on this Link. Peace :-)

Free Stats on your Blog visitors

Salam, Want to know who/when/how/where visit your Blog? Here is a pretty good Stat that I found and it's free. Nedstat Basic 3.0 provides information about the browsers, operating systems, screen sizes, color depths and plug-ins used. Needless to say, the data you have built up will be retained. This can be retrieved in a new layout. If you want to use all the new options, you need to take the following steps: Create a new MyNedstat account. You can obtain an overview of all your counters via this account. Here you can compare the results of the counters and change the settings of the different counters. Add your existing counters to the MyNedstat account. To do this you need the counter name and the associated password. (TIP: if you do not know the counter name, look on the statistics page, where the counter name is shown at the end of the URL after 'name ='). If you have forgotten your password click 'password 2.0' on top of this page to request a new password. It will be sent to the e-mail address we already have for you. If this address is no longer correct, you will have to create a new counter. You must replace the Nedstat Basic code in your web page so you can measure new information about your visitors. You replace the current code with the one that has been sent to you. You can also find this code in your MyNedstat account. The catalogue has been completely upgraded. Amongst other things, many more categories have been added. We recommend that you reset the category of the different counters in order to end up in the right hit list. You can find more information in the FAQ We wish you success and lots of fun with your new Nedstat Basic. Peace :-)

Power of Freedom

Salam, Here is an email I would like to share with you; I had a problem with one of the leasing employees, and I spent the whole day just searching the headquarter office and the names of their VPs and when I gatherd a handfull list of emails of their top dogs, I sent this nice email which I would like to share with you. Hello, My name is PALFORCE and I reside at #### #############,###,##,1111. A couple of months ago I took over my friends (who is also Arab/American Muslim) apartment lease, and moving in I asked the leasing office if I can have the carpet changed and the walls painted cause he has been there for 4 years. The person who was handling our lease was (AAA), anyways she said that she cant walk the apartment cause that's not her job is the manager job (SSSS). Well I waited for (SSSS) and we walked the apartment together and she decided that we need to do a whole turn over and redo the whole thing because the unit was in a bad shape. Well, once we returned back to (AAA)'s office she told (SSSS) that this is not a new lease and we can not do that till he sign the new lease which is in August, 1st, 2005. I said I understand but I wanted to see if yall can do it before I move my furniture, they said no we have done this so many times we can still paint and change the carpet while the unit is occupied. July, 29t, 2005 I came to (AAA) office to sign the new lease and I reminded her about the carpet change and the paint, she said I never promised you anything, I said yes you did, this is when she developed an attitude and started treating me like a second class, I was handling the matter calmly and I tried to remind her of the situation, she admitted remembering something about it, but herself never promised anything, I told her well, I meant that (COMPANY NAME )promised me, aren't you an employee of (COMPANY NAME)?! Then things cooled down a bit and she told me she is going to ask her manager (SSSS) and see when can she walk the unit to see if it needs any update. So I signed a 18 months lease. August 1st, 2005 I came to pay my rent and asked (AAA) if she had a chance to talk to (SSSS). Her answer was insulting and extremely unprofessional. (AAA) said: "I'm not her secretary" "I can't read her mind", I told her did you ask here to walk the unit and all I got were these 2 lines from her. Then I asked her about (SSSS) full name she replied:" we only have one (SSSS)". Then asked if I can talk to (SSSS), and she said:" she is not working today" . She lied straight to my face because I can see (SSSS) next door to her. Anyways, I called the office on my way out from my cell phone and asked for (SSSS) and I was transferred to her and told her about my story with (AAA) and she was very helpful and told me she will update the unit and she remembers me. I think (AAA) is discriminating against me because of my race and religion and I'm requesting a formal explanation why would you have someone in your company who discriminate against Arabs and Muslims. I'm emailing you this unformal complaint and going to give you time to correct this matter, if the same treatment presist, I'm gonna have to file it to the District Attorny office,BBB, UCLA,CAIR, and the Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity of the U.S. Department of Housing. Yours, PALFORCE (###)###-#### palforce@gmail.com ____________________________________________________ The good news is my phone has been ringing off the hook and I got about 5 emails from people in upper management asking to meet with me and promissing solution to my little problem. The bad news is This would never work in the Middle East. LOL
